At my shopping trip a few days ago I also was looking for some plastic free cleaning products. There where so many plastic bottles but only a few really plastic free products for cleaning.
Do you really need a special product for every single surface you have? Before I regularly bought some new cleaning supplies to try them out. It ended up with a huge selecetion of cleaning supplies and cleaning wipes and many other items. After we moved I use all of them up. It took nearly 3 to 4 months to get rid of all these plastic bottles. Now I only have one cleanser for glass, one for the bathroom and an all-purpose-cleaner… You don´t need more.
I have two spraybottles for my cleanser. You can buy refill tabs for window cleaner, bathroom cleaner and multi-surface-cleaner. The usage is very simple. Take the tab, throw it in your spraybottle, fill it up with normal water and wait until the tab has disintegrated – Ready to use! Here in Klagenfurt we have really stilty water, so we have lime stains all over our bathtube and our sink. Sometimes the bathroom cleaner is too weak for those stains. Then I simply use vinegar or half a lemon to get rid of those stains.
Vinegar and limes are much more effective that normal cleaners. The commercially available cleaners are mostly very dangerous for our environment, because they get into the groundwater. Vinegar and limes are biological harmless. The strong smell of the vinegar disappers after a few minutes, the chemical smell of the common cleaners stay much longer. If you wante to have homemade cleaner, you can find some recipies here: https://www.smarticular.net/dieser-natuerliche-allzweckreiniger-kostet-weniger-als-40-cent-pro-liter/
I tried to make this orange-peel-cleanser, but unfortunately it got moldy. Maybe because the are no chemical ingredients in it? Maybe I try it once again. But now I´m confident with the plastic free stuff I can easily buy at local stores.
At the local DM store there is a self-filling station for liquid laundry detergent. You can choose between laundry detergent for coloured or white clothes. Thats really a good thin, because it saves the use of plastic bottles. The price is nearly the same that normal laundry detergents.
For heavier stains on our laundry I use gall soap. In my opinion its the best thing against every kind of stains.
As you can see on the foto, you can also fill up dishsoap! but I have even found a piece of solid dishsoap! I didn´t know that before, so I had to buy and to try out that. It works great. You have a piece of Soap especially for dishes beside the kitchen sink, you rub with the sponge the soap and you can wash the dishes. The soap conaints coffee powder for scrubbing.
And its vegan 😉 I have noticed, that many of those plastic free things are vegan. And because I have found so many vegan products, I want to reccomend the blog https://veganinvillach.wordpress.com/ . Have a look, there are some interesting tips.
So like in the other post.. Its your choice if you use plastic or the sustainable alternative…..
